Pitiful Yanks lose again

For the second time in less than a week, the pathetic Yankees have been outscored by an opponent. It's shameful. In fact, game-losing losses have become so commonplace that at least one is now likely every third or fourth day.

Not only that, but when our "star" hitters come to the plate, odds are they will fail in two out of every three at bats. Yes, we have nothing to anticipate but more Yankee carnage.

Yesterday's culprit was Aaron Hicks, whose two-out HR in the ninth failed to drive in more than one run, thus merely tying the game and extending our torture. Earlier, both Hicks and Aaron Judge had failed with the bases loaded, so what exactly did he think his little hijinks would accomplish? Was it a joke?  Good grief, people, you're being paid a decent wage. What do you think the Yankees are, a charity for aging patsies? Listenup, everybody: The Yankees are a small business, not a taxpayer-funded luxury rest home! If you're going to hit a game-tying HR with two outs in the ninth, you damn well better win that game. Otherwise, you just wasted everybody's time!

Yesterday's other goat was Mean Chad Green, who gave up a walk-off HR in the bottom of the ninth. What the hell was Aaron Boone thinking, bringing in Mean Chad to pitch in relief? He's a starter! You can look it up! You don't bring in your ace to pitch the bottom of the ninth. You'll wreck your rotation. So now, the Yankees have lost two games - TWO - in the last 10, and Tampa/Montreal is breathing down our neck, cutting the lead to nine - single digits, people - in the loss column. If we lose today - and the way things are going, that's a possibility! - the Rays will be on a streak, taking two in a row going into the All-Star break.

If that happens, let's just hope Cooperstown Cashman has the guts to do what needs to be done: Tear this team apart and start building for the future. Earlier this week, our Dominican Summer League team scored 38 points in one game. Thirty eight points! Most are under the age of 12, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't try to keep the squad together and start thinking of 2025. If every week, we're supposed to lose a game - or two! - we might as well have something to live for: 2025, under President Ivanka. If we can be putting up 30 points a game, we can put this sorry mess behind us.

More often than not, an ex-Met beats us. In the words of Ronald Reagan..."Well, here we go again..."

I trace the loss back to angering the gods of baseball:

According to Plan4Hal..
Yankees win #28 will be 2028
Yankees win #29 will be 2029
Yankees win #30 will be 2030

That's the "Wet Plan"

Ya win some, ya lose some.

BUT IT'S NOT ACCEPTABLE.

Did you see the line-up?

Boone must be saving people for tomorrow's game.

Who's the new guy?

Rufus T. Firefly said...

journeyman who has had a hot streak in SWB (SSS).

Well that sucked.

Too bad Boonie didn't get tossed in the third. Mighta put a spark in em.

I thought there must have been a misprint.

"Breyvic Valera"? Didn't he used to be the Taoiseach of Ireland? Didn't Alan Rickman play him in that movie?

R.I.P. Alan Rickman. Sad that he never got to be a Bond villain.

I know, I know, I know. They've been playing great.

But that was still stupid beyond words.

Ma said he wanted to give The Gleyber and The General a rest before the All-Star Game. Sanchez, too, I guess.

Uh-huh.

Somehow, I think the 22-year-old Torres and even 31-year-old LeMahieu will be able to survive having only two days off out of the next three.

But here's the deal. Lean in a little closer, Ma. Clooooser...

We don't really give a SHIT about what happens in the All-Star Game!!!

Chances are, both of our infielders will get all of 1-2 at-bats. Sanchez may play longer.

So what?

Hey, I like the All-Star Game, too. Reminds me of my childhood.

I also like fielding our starting team in big games.

The last two nights, Boone has essentially wasted the chance to stick a nice, big harpoon right in the heart of the Rays. Somehow, we're acting like here in July, at the All-Star break, we already have this clinched. So we waste this opportunity, waste a very nice pitching performance by the Maple Sapling.

Think of these giveaway games when we're fighting for breath come late August. The time to give guys a rest is when you're 10 games up and playing Baltimore in September. Not now.

Midterm grades coming tomorrow! Get in your last minute lobbying for whomever!

The time to NOT rest the regulars is certainly NOT the first game on August 12th. Play the subs in the nightcap.
