I called it a few days ago. The Yanks wasn't gonna do squat. I'm sorta happy that they didn't trade away the farm, but then again, they needed so much more to get them though the playoffs that they had to do something. Oh well, perhaps the Yanks will get lucky anyway with Miracle Mets type play.

Look on the bright side:

a. No horrible Carl Pavano coming here.

b. The Red Menace still NYY property.

c. The Red Sox didn't improve their bullpen.

Atta boy Coops, do absolutely nothing to address the Achilles heel of the team.

Yeah--Red Menace still being buried by Cashman. Great.

OK, SO, WHAT NOW WITH CLINT?

WE BANISHED HIM TO SCRANTON WAITING FOR A TRADE THAT NEVER HAPPENED.

NOW WHAT?

IS HE IN OUR PLANS, OR NOT?

WE PRETTY MUCH DESTROYED HIS VALUE ON OUR OWN, AND THAT IS AFTER HE HELPED US WIN MULTIPLE GAMES WITH HIS HITTING OVER .400 WITH RISP!

RIGHT NOW, WE LOOK LIKE THE DOPIEST ORGANIZATION, AND WITH GOOD REASON.

I AM LISTENING TO CASHMAN AFTER TODAY'S GAME AND IT'S HARD FOR ME TO BELIEVE HE COULDN'T LAND ONE OF THE BETTER PITCHERS...

HE WAITED WAY TOO LONG TO SHOP, BUT WE HAD A HUGE BREAK THE OTHER DAY WHEN BAUER LOST HIS TEMPER AND THREW THE BALL OVER THE CF FENCE.

CASHMAN SHOULD HAVE POUNCED ON THAT OPPORTUNITY THE NEXT MORNING.

CINNCINNATTI SURE DID.

THAT WAS THE REAL MESS UP RIGHT THERE.

I HAVE A FEELING COOP WAS ASLEEP AT THE WHEEL WHEN IT CAME TO THE BAUER SITUATION.

Best case scenario - Domingo can string enough innings along to last the season. Savvy comes back as the good Sevvy - a big "If" on both counts - coming back and being good. Who knows, though? Happ and Maple eat innings. CC and Tanaka eat innings. Dellin returns to counter Chapo's meltdowns. Everybody else is cannon fodder. And maybe there's a surprise in the wings. Maybe a boy in the farm team is ready to become a man.

Do I have hope? Not really, but I'm open to the idea of hope as a possibility.

I'm glad that Casholo The Magnificent did not sell the farm. That being said, we had plenty to opportunities for the past year to spend some of Hal's precious budget for rice and beans and could have not been in this situation at all and nobody did squat.

So here we sit, as they used to solemnly intone, broken hearted. Came to shit, but only farted.

Here is a quick open letter to Hal

Hey Hal,

Here's the thing, I don't know if you've noticed but for all of your cooperation (cough - collusion) with the other owners about bidding up free agents etc. Their GM's continue to jack up the price in trades and end up taking far less from pretty much everyone else.

They are playing you.

The only true power you have is the ability to out bid any one in a money match. But you've been so polite that you let a measly couple of mil stop you from getting Keuchel. Case you haven't noticed. Atlanta did more upgrading. Houston got the prize of the deadline.

OK this year it's too late. But you sir are a chump if you ever get out bid again. They don't like you. They won't help you. Bury them!

Thing is, Doug K., I don't think he cares. He has moved on, to build the mighty International Steinbrenner Soccer Empire.

13bit, I wonder if your surprise on the farm could be Mike King. I was really hoping he'd emerge after having a great year in Double- and Triple-A last year.

Then—arm problems. I figured that was the last we'd ever hear of him. But apparently he's back throwing.

Could this be the year that, forced to rely on the young arms, the Yanks finally break through?

Don't count on it. But I'd love to see what he's got.

I just read this in the Daily News...

"In the final minutes before the MLB trade deadline, the Yankees and Mets had a “very slim” chance of working out a deal for right-hander Zack Wheeler. The Mets were asking for major league-ready players in return, but not interested in an offer that included Clint Frazier and Miguel Andujar, who is out for the season after shoulder surgery.

Instead, the Mets held onto Wheeler, who will be a free agent at the end of the year."

Frazier and Andujar for a rental? and they said no? The Mets are even dumber than we are.

The one advantage this gives us for the stretch run: tremendous depth.

Today we seemed about to lose two infielders, Sir Didi and Gio, in as many innings. Thank Chthulu, we did not. But if we had, Thairo and maybe even Tyler Wade could have stepped in.

Luke Voit is out, and who knows how long Encarnacion can last in the field? But hey, we have Mike Ford and MCBROOM! in Scranton.

Any day now, I suspect they will stop talking about Judge's A swing, and put him on the DL. Up pops The Red Menace again. And in September...we really should have a 40-man roster.

How far all of that will get us, who knows? But at least we won't be facing another Shane Robinson situation...
