It sounded like Suzyn said someone named Michael Pineda was pitching. In the Bigs. And then she said someone named Sunny Gray was pitching too? In the Big Leagues. Tonight.
I just tuned in, expecting to see at least the last half hour of the game, but the fat lady has sung.
The new James Bond film opened here tonight and the screening started at 0:07, so I was spared any pain (great movie, by the way). Got home about 3:50.
Did I miss any Stantonian heroics? Any manifestations of suckitude? Any more Steely Dan soundtrack? (Sing me one, Winnie.)
Anonymous Bosch, the new Stanton slump has started. No Steely Dan, though I'd recommend "Fire in the Hole" or "King of the World" given my mood right now.
It’s difficult to say such a thing but “Katy Lied” may well be my all-time favourite Steely Dan song.
As several of the usual suspects have posted at various times in the last weeks, I am at the end of my emotional rope with Boonie’s Boys, so now that the new season has started here, I have been prioritising other stuff. In the last week I went to a jazz concert, an evening at the ballet, an opera, the movies tonight (this morning, technically), and on Friday will hear Mahler’s third symphony, the longest ever written – I have to be emotionally prepared for it, before and after, as a really good performance of it can render me speechless for hours.
I have, of course, kept Sunday open. My gut feeling is that it’s all going to come down to game 162 (and, quite possibly, 163).
Thanks, Steve and Rufus, for keeping me up to date. Hail, hail Freedonia! (Love me some Margaret Dumont!)
That game makes me want to hole up on the caves of Altamira.
"Everyone's gone to the Movies", if that song came out today Fagan and Becker would be serving hard time. Which shows how ridiculous and uptight this Country has become.....
So, does this Team stand up to Ray tomorrow, or do they lay down and die?

Well, as Yogi once said, even if your starting pitcher shits the bed, you still gotta play the rest of the game. Or something like that.
What the fuck was that with Gio and Gallo? Is this the Bad News Bears?
Pathetic.
ya gotta type help me mr. wizard. orger wise the juju won't work.
It's really Gallo's ball. He's a real winner.
Are we witnessing the beginning of the next Stanton slump?
How we gonna beat them when they can hold Giancarlo hitless? HOW!?!?!?

Don't worry! Joey Gallo will save us!
And someone named Brooks Christie is pitching for Baltimore?
That's so weird. Like it must have some hidden meaning.
Cole’s got nothing, but he’s hanging in there.
Props.
I won't say that Gallo deserved that beaning, but then I won't say that he didn't either.
Voit ready to whiff.
Brigadoon Voit.
Whiff's better than a GIDP.
That stupid lefty right thing again. I'd rather have Gardy.
Old reliable. K.
Next time around, it might be too late to PH Sanchez.
Kyle!!!!!!!!
Lololol!
Higashioka! The RBI single stroke-a!
I like it, Steve.
Higgy!!!
Wet towel alert:
Kriske Kreamed is pitching for Balmer.
Lasagna is back!
We suddenly have a great bullpen. Lasagna, Holmes, Sevvy, German, sometimes Wanda, and the reconstituted Cappie.
Who am I forgetting?
Goose Gossage?
Lugnut and King.
Ricky Ricardo.
Stellar bullpen.
Holmes. Forget Clay Wad when it’s a tie game
Oh dear.
Gleyber doesn't make that play at short.
It's a single to left.
Help me Mr. Wizard!
Gallo must be hurt.
Or Bonehead is an idiot.
Or both.
Three pitch strikeout.
Way to go ICS!
I'm guessing "both"
"Aaron Boone is out of moves," Kay said.
He ran out of them sometime in July, I think.
Shit. Nice try.
I blame Gallo.
Yeah, Gallo's hbp caused some kind of damage.
Never expected a sweep vs Toronto. And we won't get one.

They need Dr. Olu, not Dr. Wu.
Are you with me, Dr. Olu?

For me, Bosch, it's probably "I'm Never Goin' Back to My Old School"—though I liked all my old schools. Or "Go Back, Jack."
"Katy Lied" is an album, not a song. "Dr. Wu" is the song.
D'oh! Right you are! It’s there between “Daddy Don’t Live in That New York City No More” and “Everyone’s Gone to the Movies”.
Now we’re alone at last.
This reminds me of that King Crimson thread we had some, but not many, years ago.
That game makes me want to hole up on the caves of Altamira.

You people better hope and pray your short-term dreams are crushed.
This hope (you hide but I see) is the payoff oatmeal that gets a tastebud-bereft shithead to hold lesser shitheads another decade.
You REALLY want to play the hope game here? Go for it at your own risk.
You've been told.
