Read it and weep: Yankee hitting stats over the last 15 days

Clearly, no reason to give Tyler Wade a chance.

" All we are saying is give Wade a chance".

Wade was one of our hottest hitters and he's had 2 ABs in 2 weeks?

That's both disgraceful and insane!

Yes, remember the heady days of late March when "Gil" was something attached to the sole of our shoes, "Nester" was the term for guests who would not leave and "Wade" was something you did if you wanted to enter this country during the dry season.
Now, those are the players that represent our best chance of winning on any given day.

I just can't follow the Yankees anymore. A total waste of time. Top to bottom radical changes are needed.

Alphonso said...

Rizzo is bunting and hitting to LF. Only smart Yankee.

13bit said...

We are a powerhouse.

Anonymous said...

Hitting to left field and bunting is just what the Yankees' opponents want Rizzo to do--it's a great way to prevent him from driving the ball and thus getting any XBH or homeruns. Not very smart for Rizzo or the Yankees after all.

Last night's lineup was absurd--nearly all of the usual suspects of failure, stubbornly ushered into action again: Gardner? Odor? Gallo? GARDNER LEADING OFF? The only rational explanation of that Boone taking side payments from Toronto or Boston or Tampa Bay.

Gil starting the game was the only sign of a flicker of sanity or intelligence in the Yankee Brainless Trust. If the Yankees are going to have a chance to salvage even a second wild card spot, the following steps are necessary--although they will never happen:

Bench Gardner, Gallo, and Odor--currently three of the worst players in baseball--and keep them benched aside from pinch-hitting or pinch-running duties. Start the following guys in every remaining game: Wade, Velazquez, and Allen and/or Florial. Allen and/or Florial would be as good as or better than Gardner on defense and speed and certainly no worse at the plate--probably better (most likely better in Allen's case)--Gardner's homerun last night was the glaring exception, NOT the rule--he's hit all of 7 dingers this year in 375 PA, one of the worst ratios among starting outfielders in baseball, and his overall offensive AND defensive numbers are in the toilet; he should have been DFA'ed in mid-season, not perversely anointed the starting centerfielder.

Give Voit most of the starts at first base--his superior bat more than compensates for Rizzo's defensive advantage.

Keep Gil in the starting rotation. Never allow Heaney anywher near the pitcher's mound again.

If this were an organization governed by intelligence rather than WFAN-caller-like reverence for "names" and regressed alpha-male "leadership" idiocies--in other words, like any organization in baseball other than this disastrous asylum of mediocrities and imbeciles--that's exactly what would happen. But dream on . . . until the apocalypse, which is just around the corner.

HoraceClarke67 said...

I gotta disagree with you, Alphonso. I do think that hitting to the opposite field and bunting are great skills to employ at the right moments. But for the most part, I'm annoyed by what a weak-ass .333 that BA of Rizzo's is.

The guy needs to hit with at least SOME power.

Analyzing him on YES the other night, they were saying that by standing so close to the plate all the time, he inevitably drives all the fastballs he gets into foul.

Of course I don't have the expertise to say if that's true, but 1 HR in 15 games is not what we want or need.

HoraceClarke67 said...

Big rain early and now a steady drizzle here in Seattle East. Hoping for a rainout!

Anonymous said...

By the way--the usual rationalization for keeping Gardner in the lineup is his purported defensive prowess--but that's a thing of the distant past. His arm is shot--one of the worst in the majors, his range is mediocre, and his overall defensive WAR is ZERO. His abysmal offensive numbers speak for themselves. As I said above, he should have been released in mid-season--indeed, should not have been re-signed--and the organization's stubborn preference for him over Allen and Florial is simply another flagrant instance of Cashman's ineptitude, his affinity for "names," no matter how diminished by age, over athletic young talent.

I cannot take this mental illness anymore, whoever is spoofing me and wasting their life commenting. I just cannot come to this blog while this is going on.

Again, I am more than happy to volunteer as a moderator if you go that route. You all know how to get to me. Good luck for now.

Yankee roster moves...

09/09/21 New York Yankees designated CF Jonathan Davis for assignment.
09/09/21 New York Yankees selected the contract of RHP Sal Romano from Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders.
09/09/21 New York Yankees placed RHP Jameson Taillon on the 10-day injured list. Right ankle tendon injury.
09/08/21 New York Yankees optioned RHP Brooks Kriske to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders.

Taillon has a partial tear of his tendon...it just gets worse....

. . . or better, if you want to see a housecleaning of the front office.

Anonymous said...

I have no idea where HC67 came up with a .333 BA for Rizzo. For the year he's batting .252, and .265 for the Yanks, but with a weak .774 OPS. His offensive WAR in New York is 0.6. He's slugging only .429 for the Yanks. If his name wasn't Rizzo--if he were a Scranton callup with these numbers--he would have been sent back down already.

And Britton had Tommy John surgery.

Anonymous Bosch said...

Not so swell, Nestor. Do they have Heaney warming up?

TheWinWarblist said...

Annnnd we're down 1-0.

Mustang said...

"Giancarlo Santon pops out softly..." You don't want to be anywhere near Alphonso when that happens.

TheWinWarblist said...

Mustang, does Carl have a admin privilege or did you delete the post he put around 7PM referencing a certain woman?

ranger_lp said...

@Winnie...that 1-0 might as well be 10-0....

Anonymous Bosch said...

Good lord: Bichette repeats himself. “He does damage against lefties” said Kay in an understatement.

Winnie, we now have to make sure that comments are being posted by the real person, the true member of the IIHIIFIIC gang. The dreaded child “Anonymous” has taken to posting using the names of Hoss and Bitty (who has sworn off posting till this is all settled, to our loss) and others. Before you take anything seriously, you need to make sure there is a link to a blog URL (like the one you talked me into establishing) under the user name, and ignore all posts without the blog connection.

Maybe Doug K., Hammer of God, Archangel, and others need to do this as well. The little fucker is trying to turn us against ourselves.

My mistake: I was typing offline and thought I heard Kay call another homer for Bichette.

TheWinWarblist said...

AB, the comment was by the real Carl J. About using Pauline in a skimpy outfit as a ball person. And now the comment is gone. I don't think Carl is a troll, but it looked like he inadvertently posted from you real account.

I'm getting through but whatever needs to be done to make this place enjoyable again is ok with me.

TheWinWarblist said...

yeah, but if you delete it says you deleted. I thought only admins can make them completely disappear. Carl, you out there?

I am afraid I don't use the tweety machine. I have an account, but I don't use it!

TheWinWarblist said...

How does Stanton not get a double out of that? how? How the fuck?

HOW????

Pocono Steve said...

He would have been stranded at second even if he had made it.

TheWinWarblist said...

Joey Callo came into the evening with an OPS+ of 76 and a bWAR of 0.1 as a Yankee. I know he's a youngster on this team at 27, but he's sucking up the joint.

Pocono Steve said...

They need to stop with those Italian flags for Gallo and Rizzo. It's not sending positive juju. It's sending il malocchio.

Anonymous Bosch said...

Vergogna!

Rufus T. Firefly said...

Pocono Steve,

I think Rizzo was offended by your post.

Anonymous Bosch said...

We're gonna get us eome Wandavision. That should pretty much seal things.

The Yankees waved their magic Wandy.

I'm watching this game and the Cowboys/Tampa game and the first half is almost over and I haven't seen a single QB sack/hit/pressure.

It's such a different game when you have competent offensive lines.I'm looking at you Gettleman.

Who's the huge biker behind home plate?

Stunning stat just posted by YES: This is the first time since 1908 that the Yankees have been swept in a four-game series without ever holding a lead.

Carl J. Weitz said...

I just checked in Winnie and saw your post. I guess Mustang deleted my post because I disagreed with him earlier. That's uncalled for censorship which is why I thought his post was full of crap.

Mustang said...

Carl, if you are Carl, I deleted your post because the Pauline Hickey reference is of a piece with the usual bullshit. I think I was too itchy on the trigger finger, but it was that kind of day. I don't mind that you disagreed with me. If you are you. But the kind of pushback you said you want is freely available in the whole rest of the internet. Just not here.

Carl J. Weitz said...

I'm the real Carl. I did post it as a joke because I saw the Pauline Hickey posts several times.Maybe my humor isn't for everyone. Everyone should take a few deep breaths and chill. It's just a blog not life or death. I'm sure things will return to normal soon.
