A Little Something For Didi.....

This box contains uncovered outfield grass, in fair territory.

It is something that Didi's line-drives today will find.

His hitless string of 0-28 goes out the window with his first at bat of the day.

Come back home, Didi.

Happy game day !

WHAT HAPPENED TO DIDI?

IT'S EASY TO SEE.

GIAMBINO-ITIS.

TEX-ITIS...

HE GOT HOT AS HELL, AND WAS HITTING HOMERS ALMOST SEEMINGLY AT WILL.

NOW DURING THIS O FOR 30 STREAK, HE IS FLYING OUT TO CENTER FIELD, FLYING OUT TO RIGHT CENTER, FLYING OUT TO RIGHT....

NOWHERE TO BE FOUND ARE THOSE BEAUTIFUL SWINGS HE PUTS ON, SEEMINGLY WITH EASE, JUST SERVING THOSE BASE HITS TO LEFT FIELD.

TODAY, DIDI GOT HIS FIRST HIT IN A WHILE.

A BEAUTIFUL BASE HIT TO LEFT CENTER.

HE IS THE FIRST TO SAY HE IS NOT A HR HITTER.

....BUT THE HOME RUNS ARE INTOXICATING.

HE NEEDS TO STOP THINKING ABOUT THEM, IN MY OPINION.

It was originally Andy Carey disease, ALL-CAPS.

Apparently Carey went to Japan with the Yanks on some postseason tour and was smacking ball over the fence, left and right. According to Stengel, it spoiled him. He was swinging for the fences on every at-bat after that.

Of course, since every major-league player is now encouraged to swing for the fences on every at-bat...
