How Do We Get Through This?

It is the bottom of the fourth, and we are down 5-2.  This game is over for us.  No one is getting hits with runners on base ( except Oakland, of course ).  Hale has been used up. Who will give us innings?

First "three straight loss" run of the year is looming ( yesterday's loss was pivotal).

Domingo is not proving to be another Luis Severino.  He is proving to be a relief pitcher who got lucky in his start against Boston.

Montgomery is down for 2-3 months.

Sonny is awful.  CC is 37.  Tanaka is inconsistent.

What does that suggest?

Cashman will be on the phones, and whatever remains of our farm system is back in play.

Think Sheffield.  Think Frazier.  Think Florial.

Think the worst.

It has always been the lack of pitching, but our line-up is not delivering up to potential.

 Not even close.

I have turned off the game and gone to a bar.

Go to a bar, yes.

But here's the pineapple. Nobody can get Gardy home. Stanton, of course, Ks. But still, we're tied.

And then, Chapman. Walks the first two guys. I'm afraid to watch.

Good thing you're at a bar, Alphonso.

This is horrific. And still, they leave him in. Unbelievable.

Gee wiz! Don't give up hope! Headline from today's Yankees' homepage:

"Betances confident results will change soon"

(Sound like something from a stale fortune cookie).

this is already a one pineappler. Makes me wonder why I ruin a nice Saturday (actually it sucks raining here) watching them tease me.

At least I can take solace in the facts that I am not a RS fan and we have Ken announcing on yes.

HERE'S THE GUY ON MY (S)HIT LIST.

STANTON.

HE SUCKS.

CAN'T HIT A RIGHT HANDER.

CAN'T HIT A SLIDER FROM A RIGHT HANDER.

CAN'T HIT IN THE CLUTCH.

NOT EVEN A SHOT.

CAN'T FIELD.

IT'S HARD FOR ME TO BELIEVE HE IS MAGICALLY GOING TO TURN IT ALL AROUND (CLUTCH WISE) JUST BECAUSE THE WEATHER GETS WARM.

MAN, I HATE THE NATIONAL LEAGUE.

ALL OUR BIGGEST BUSTS COME FROM THERE.

COOP WON'T LEARN.

Alphonso, we appreciate your sacrifice. If we could, we would share your headache tomorrow.

ALL-CAPS, this is what I'm saying!

Scranton by all indications seems like a perfectly nice guy.

As a ballplayer, I find him loathsome.

After a terrible at-bat in a key situation on Friday, Scranton kept coming up with men in scoring position, and kept making out. Inning after inning.

I just looked up his clutch splits on baseballreference: .249, lifetime, with 2 outs, runners in scoring position. .197—.197!—"late and close."

Ruh-roh.

Another stat overlooked by me, while endorsing the deal for Scranton.

Much worse? Another stat overlooked by Coops.

EXACTLY HOSS....

COOPERSTOWN CASHMAN...

THAT'S THE GUY WHO'S JOB IS IT TO KNOW THOSE STANTON STATS WITH RISP.

WOW, LATE AND CLOSE... .197

YEP, THAT SEEMS ABOUT RIGHT FROM WHAT WE ARE SEEING NOW.

WE BETTER SMARTEN UP AND DROP HIM DOWN A BIT IN THE ORDER.

NO MORE CLEAN UP.

5TH.

I WOULD PREFER 6TH, BUT THAT WILL NEVER HAPPEN, OUT OF WORRYING ABOUT HURTING HIS FEELINGS AND PSYCHE WHICH IS BULLSHIT.
