...no, not for these comments from yours truly. (That's yet to come!)
I mean the sports coverage of the Times, which reached a new low today.
With one New York baseball club laying as well as it has in decades, running up one thrilling victory after the other—and the other caught in a sudden, horrifying tailspin—you would think the Paper of Record might have concentrated on, well, baseball this morning.
But no. the lead story in their SportsMonday section was an enormous article about how "Indian Mascots Live On in Europe." That's right: even though they are now dying out in this country, they are still popular with European soccer and rugby teams.
Just below that? Another huge piece on how the loneliest fans in Atlanta now are followers of the old Thrashers hockey team, which moved out of the Big Peach after all of 11 seasons back in 2011, and became the Winnipeg Jets II.
Really, I'm not making this up.
Then there was more hockey, and a little basketball, and a big piece on a taekwondo sex scandal, and finally a feature on a woman who died 25 years ago and used to be the motorcycle queen of Miami.
Oh, and yes, a little something on the Mets and the Yankees.
Still, we cling to our lead: Yankees 75, Soccer—which would be a relief after foreign Indian mascots, Atlanta Thrashers, and Miami motorcycle queens—74.

In Holland, also known as the Netherlands where the Dutch live, there was a trial last week about the oppriateness of a children's festival themed "Cowboys and Indians". It was initiated by some group about gender issues, racism, cultural appropriation and a number of other pressing topics. They lost.
The festival was to take place in a Utrecht (city in central Holland, 4th largest) theatre. Before the verdict was announced or the trial itself even started, this theatre had already cancelled the event because they "did not want to offend anybody and want to have inclusive programming".
Ah well.
Here we have New Utrecht, which is now part of Bensonhurst, which is in Brooklyn...ah, forget it!
