Just as Joey's jib was jiving, Gallo's gonad goes gimpy (goosing Gardy?)

As he was starting to show signs of life - 6 hits in his last 20 ABs - Joey Gallo felt a "tightness" last night somewhere between his radish patch and cabbage basket, leaving us once again to wonder what the juju gods have in mind for the 2022 Yankees. Three things:

1. The Yankees are pooh-poohing the extent of the injury. Considering their track record on poohings- remember that catcher who came in the Sanchez trade? Ben Rortvedt? we still have yet to see him - let's expect Gallo to go on the 10-day meat list and then disappear for maybe a month.

I'm sorry to be so pessimistic, but the Death Barge long ago tossed credibility out the window, when it comes to injuries. It's not that they're evil: Much of it stems from simple denial. But whenever a Yankee strains, tweaks or pinches something - anything - expect the worst. It's the Iron Law of Pavano.

2. Certainly, we should be able to lose a guy who is hitting .180. But with Gallo, any injury means the team will press the "RESET" button, meaning we will face another month of HR-W-Ks before deciding whether he is right for NYC.

Don't get me wrong: I'm not saying the Yankees should punt on Gallo. He deserves a full shot at making it. But we just suffered through his rotten April, and if just as he starts to hit, his thingy starts to bark - well - who wants to do it all over again?

3. I, for one, would be delighted to see Tim Locastro get a shot in LF. Imagine it: an overachiever!  If Locastro stutters, Miguel Andujar. But both bat RH, and the Yankees - playing in a park seemingly designed for Anthony Rizzos - are a ridiculously starboard-pointing team.

If Gallo goes out, we might see Estevan Florial (.234 with 2 HRs and 5 SB at Scranton), simply due to his lefty leanings. We should also take notice that, unless I missed something, Brett Gardner has never formally retired.

In the meantime, let's celebrate the best record in baseball.

Let’s not celebrate the best record in baseball. I for one will not set myself up for punishment.

"Best record in baseball."

JuJu, cue the 4 games losing streak, including 3 to Toronto and Gammonites posturing about Stanton's near record 8 straight K.

Thanks Boss

We gotta know when we gottit goo.

Right now, we got it goo. Might as well admit it, rather than burn juju that we'll need in August.

Let’s talk after Toronto

I got sucked in last year. I'm enjoying it, but not believing it.

The Yankees used to engender fandom and respect. Now they make fans cynical. If being realistic counts as cynicism.

JM> that's EXACTLY my position on this streak, I'm cautiously enjoying this but have no expectation that it will continue long term. I've been burned by this team over and over and over again, especially over the last few years,,,,, let's see where they are in a month.

What is the latest on Rizzo, Judge and possibly others unable to pay in Toronto? A few days ago, when asked this question, Boone simply said " I'm not worried about it at this time." Another evasive answer. Anyone hear something new?

First place mon cul!

I have five things to say about all this:

It's April, the month where shallow teams give hope to desperate fans who, in their hearts, know better.

And the other four things:
Cleveland
Detroit
Baltimore
Kansas City

And on another note: I hope Joey Gallo is never heard from again.

"Pessimistic"? Gallo out for a month?

Duque, I don't think that word means what you think it means.

@Carl W, others: officially, no unvaccinated player will be able to play. Boone’s exact quote on the matter: “ ... my understanding is we're going to be OK." (Source ESPN)
