Diamond Sombrero

I don't think our $165 million man even fouled a pitch off today. A " no contact day," as they call it in the Sally league.
He had the " golden sombrero " locked up early.
And then he went for immortality; 5 strikeouts in one game. The " diamond" sombrero. So rare, there is no google image of one.
So think of the white felt above as a "field of diamonds."
He got there easily and, I promise you, he would have gotten six or seven K's, had the game continued.
And for a home, opening day debut, it speaks volumes.
He was lucky it was snowing.
I wonder what Cashman has to say about his, " Primary off-season move today?"
He may set a world record for consecutive strikeouts.
Tune in tomorrow to watch the show.

Mustang posed an interesting question:
Shouldn't it be a platinum sombrero?
The crowd booed him. 5k's. Madre Maria.
SLIDER, SLIDER, SLIDER, SLIDER.....
DID THEY THROW HIM ONLY FASTBALLS IN THE N.L.?
N.L. PITCHING SUCKS FOR THE MOST PART. (MINUS KERSHAW, SCHERZER, AND MAYBE A COUPLE OTHERS).
HE BETTER KNOW HOW TO HIT THAT SLIDER FROM A RIGHT HANDER, CAUSE THAT'S ALL HE IS GONNA SEE IN THIS LEAGUE.
Here’s a call for the Master:
“Giancarlo, you stink like a farto.”
You'll all forget this the next time he hits three taters.
OK, OK. Let's give the guy the benefit of the doubt. He was nervous and basically wet his pants meeting his new home folks. Coulda happened to anybody making $30 mill a year for the rest of his life.
What I find interesting this morning is the contrast of our two Marlins. Sir Didi and Mr. Mike. Whether we realize it or not, Didi was the first big move of our so-called youth movement. We picked him up for his potential and every year he's gotten better and better until now he is elite. Mike Giancarlo Stanton was already at the top of the mountain, and we asked him to skip like a ram over to our little hill. For the privilege, we paid him and we paid his former paymaster Jeter with our youthful treasure.
The Didi move was one of several Cashman made picking up young kids who hadn't lived up to their potential. Ackley was a giant hairball, but Hicks might be something if he'd stop picking his obliques. Sir Didi may not get 8 RBI again but he's going to be one of our most reliable hitters and a very reliable shortstop.
We've been doing the Stanton dance for 40 years. It's never as good as the initial headlines.
Platinum sombrero is for 6 K's.
