"The Survey Says..."

 I conducted a statistically reliable survey ( three other guys in an LA bar ) about the recently concluded Yankees/Houston series, and learned some interesting things;

1.  I was the only person who watched all four games.

2.  Two of the other dudes were Dodger fans and didn't even know Houston and the Yankees were playing.

3.  The other guy( a Brewers fan) saw highlights from game two and game 4 on MLB sports talk.

4.  But none of us thought the Yankees were the better team.

5.  All of us were drinking Stella Drafts and Jim Beam shots.

6.  I was the only patron to also have a pickled egg.

7.  I was informed that only two other teams in the modern game have gone 16 or 18 innings without a hit.

8.  Both teams went on to win the World Series.

9.  I can't remember who they were.

10.   Statistically, therefore, the Yankees will win the World Series.

But some of us may not remember.

I have a splitting headache.

One of those teams was the '61 Yankees, I believe.

Donaldson starting against a righty again. Guess with Gleyber and IKF out, no choice. Which doesn't explain yesterday, but Boone is an idiot.

Watching Hicks……
Did you hear about my idea to shorten games? You know how Manfred Mann has the NO PITCH intentional WALK to save precious time? Well, maybe we should have have the No Pitch INTENTIONAL STRIKEOUT for Hicks and Gallo.
Here’s how it works:
The Yankees concede the strikeout while Hicks or Gallo is still in the on-deck circle. Then the hitter just goes back to the bench and sits down. This will save the save the same amount time as the no pitch walk since 4 pitches is about the same number of pitches it takes either of them to strike out anyway. Plus, this way we stay out of a certain number of double plays as well. Just an idea….
Manfred is a very serious innovator

This just in…Gallo still sucks. I would’ve sent Donaldson with 2 outs and Gallo up next.

4 Yanks struck out looking, Get the lumber off the shoulder guys. Protect the plate with 2 strikes? No, it’s only Oakland? Show some effort or we’ll lose tonight.

Wezil's suggestion may very well be adopted next year. That is the universe we're in now.

BTR999 said...

Yes, Montgomery latest to struggle
I felt like the team had no energy tonight

Rufus T. Firefly said...

That was awful.

At least they have a hit today.

Rufus T. Firefly said...

Is Monty hurt?

Best vs worst records in baseball. Hard to figure who's who.

According to Suzyn, Mike is 5 for 43, all 5 homers.

DickAllen said...

That's a wild stat: Giancarlo's fifth hit in his last 43 at-bats - all home runs. He's joined the Black Hole Gang of Donaldson, Hicks, and Gallo.

ANALytics guys love them all.

I can not watch the game 'cause my MLBTV is blocked '[Cauz I'm in Norcal' and geographically within the Oakland Market.

grrrrrr grrrrrrrrrr grrrrrrr

Between Maybin and Big Head (and let’s face it, The Master, who thinks we are playing the Astros) it is just easier sometimes to have the sound off. Will that man ever shut up? And yes, he is better than Beltran- who has a big head of his own

A's with literally the entire defense on the right side, Gallows pulls a line drive into the shift with predictable results, shakes his head as if snakebit. Fucking 62 baseball IQ.

Rufus T. Firefly said...

Mildred,

You give him way too much credit.

Big rally. Walk, catcher's interference, walk, catcher's interference. Base hit by Donaldson, 6-5.

What a weird inning.

Rufus T. Firefly said...

This inning is stranger than a single A game.

JM said...

Sorry, that second walk was hbp.

JM said...

We got pretty much every giveaway you can get.

Rufus T. Firefly said...

JM,

next will be a balk.

JM said...

So now Hicks. Whiff or double play?

JM said...

Oh yeah, balk would be for the cycle.

TheWinWarblist said...

AAAAAAaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!

JM said...

Now the catcher who fell to earth...

Rufus T. Firefly said...

Dropped foul ball and two runners score. I can see it coming.

JM said...

Wow. A double.

TheWinWarblist said...

Hicksie's OPS is 70 points lower than league average and more than 100 points lower than the Yankee average. How much longer can we get NOTHING from our corner outfielders?

JM said...

8-5. The As are a sad island of broken toys.

JM said...

Win, it will kill us in the postseason.

Some players go to New York and thrive -- looking at you Lee Trevino.

Some players to to Yew Nork and dive -- Looking at you Joey Callo.

Important hit by Marwin so Gallo can make the last out and we start the eighth at the top of the lineup.

Doug K. said...

gallo made two of the three outs

JM said...

Gallo is just hopeless. So bad, I feel for the guy.

TheWinWarblist said...

Gallo made out twice in that inning. My half-eaten bucket of chicken tenders and fries looked better than Gallo.

DickAllen said...

Oakland is even more pathetic than Gallo.

Doug K. said...

toronto leading boston 7-2 in the 9th

TheWinWarblist said...

What an awful runny turd.

TheWinWarblist said...

Gallo, not Toronto. Boston is a festering puddle of runny and chunky turds.

Rufus T. Firefly said...

Gallo made two outs, Hicks the other.

I sense a pattern here.

Aw, Boston lost to the Boca Juniors North. Bummer.

Nice warble from The Master.

JM said...

That was a big yet pathetic Yankees win.

TheWinWarblist said...

Boston 12 back in the AILC.

TheWinWarblist said...

So pathetic. Two catcher interference calls in the same inning. What's next a walk-off balk?

Ken of Brooklyn said...

My Big Fat Pathetic Yankee Win> LOL! I'll take it, especially knowing Boston lost!

HoraceClarke66 said...

The first cracks appear in the dam wall, with the starting pitching obviously slumping, at last. No biggie—yet—but it's a little ominous.

Still, those who do not bottom feed do NOT get fruit cup!
