First report from the "New Me."

Good morning to everyone. ( " Gentles all" as Shakespeare would say).

Well yesterday sure was a disappointment.  Our team had a chance there in the ninth inning for yet another "walk-off" win.  What a "never say die" bunch of fellows.

You can't win them all.  Even this fine team of clutch players.  Everyone was trying really hard.

We have to give credit to the other team.  They made some fine plays.

We'll surely come back and win today.

Go Yankees!

The Astros combined no hit the Yanks in June 2003 at the Stadium. The Yanks won the pennant. Nothing is fucked, Dude.

Thanks Fonzie. I see a 10 game losing streak in the Yankees future.

...and they're really hanging in there this afternoon.

If we're lucky, it will be a passing fad. Otherwise, it's on you. For expressing optimism. Of all people, you should know better.

It all comes down to twitch.

I don't know if I can watch.

Good pitching berates good hitting.

Or something like that.

What is the fucking point of this fucking team? They can rack up as many fucking wins as they want, but if they can't beat Houston, then fucking fuck them. Who cares? Yes, of course Altuve hits a home run! Yes, of course they get no hit at home! Why not?! Yes, of course they now have to scrounge for a series split at home.

All 1998 comparisons end today. Like now.

Toast. We could go 1-3 this weekend. Easy.

Hey, Fonzie ... if you're not going to be using that Crown Royal and weed, can you send it to me? I think I'm going to need it after watching today's game. I'm just about out of the 12-pack of Utica Club I bought yesterday.

I can't beileve we were no hit. By the friggin' Astros.

That sick feeling in your gut right now? Feels bad, right? The 1998 team did not make you feel that--at all. Ever.

BernBabyBern said...

This is why optimism is overrated.

It's hard to know whether their pitching was so good or we're slipping into one of our traditional offensive outages. Either way, we need to win tomorrow. It's easier to lose confidence than it is to gain it.

I don't remember the 1998 team being like this team at all.

SS -- Jeter was never a great fielder. Ike is about the same level, I think. But the hitting difference?

OF -- Aaron Hicks? Tell me which player (at any pos) on the '98 team compares in the dreck category.

C -- Kylie H has fallen into a rabbit hole. '98 had Girardi + Posada.

Note that I have not yet mentioned Joey Gallo.

My favorite part of the 1998 team -- no A-Roid. No Clemens. If those guys were taking steroids (and stealing signs illegally) . . . they did a great job of covering it up.

Joe FoB,

Are you saying Luis Sojo and David Wells got their toned and buff bodies without steroids? That's nearly impossible!

Better than Luis Sojo falling down after fielding a routine grounder is the fact that his 'stage name' for road trip hotels was "Harry Pelotes"

Well, that about does it with the 1996 or 1998 Yankee comparisons. Excusez moi whilst I puke ... pfuuuughhh .... What a disgusting shit show today ... oh the humanity ... oh the .... nevermind. Did we all not say at the beginning of the year that this was not a championship team?

As I've said before, this team will set some truly mind boggling records:

1. Striking out 27 times in a 9 inning game.

2. Striking out 27 times in a 9 inning game on 81 pitches.

3. Striking out 27 times in a 9 inning game on 81 pitches and all of them swinging!

Will all of them be no-hitters or perfect games? Who knows. I'm not a gambling man, but if it happens in the playoffs, against the Cheatros, and espcecially against Verlander, I would bet the farm.

Man oh man, Andujar must be enjoying this shit show. Like Achilles in Homer's Iliad, he's probably praying that the Yankees get no-hit every game. Just punishment for their hubris. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Andujar is the only major league player who hit almost .300 with close to a 100 RBI in one great offensive season who lost his job to injury and then got banished to the minors, never to be seen again. Except for several two game spurts during the course of the long season.

More Gallows humor: So they're afraid to bring up Estevan Florial because they think he strikes out too much? Wow, hahaha, that's a good one!

Maybe this embarrassing game at home, will get Hal to cough up some money. Sickening loss, but everyone should get real, one loss in June.

I said on Thursday this would be a painful series, but this was a humiliating kick in the crotch.
This team needs to be October-ready, clearly they’re not. More irk needs to be done.
