Calling Dr. Andrews

Dellin has not thrown a pitch in anger this season.

I don't think he will.

Is he misdiagnosed?

Is he neurotic?

Is it time for surgery?

Nothing about him or his readiness to pitch right now, or in the near future, is good.

You'r fine as long as you have Jonathan Holder.

Today's game proved that old saying, fairly good pitching beats totally crap pitching every time.

Dear Mr. Alphonso:

I don't mean to be a nit-picker, but you spelled Jonathan Holder's name incorrectly. It should be Jonathan Surrenderer.

Right, JM...so we cheap out and pass on Keuchel on a 4 month deal over a million or so. But hey, lets sign Eiic Kratz off the scrap heap again to be the fourth-string catcher. Way to go Hal!

You know you're in trouble when even Pollyanna Alley is calling for your head:

And...if you'll note...contained in the same article from our Yankee-loving brethren over at PA, in paragraph 7, is an exact accounting of how much we are paying to retain Kendrys Morales' services.

How much do you think it is?

C'mon...you know...c'mon, guess...

SEVERINO DONE.

BETANCES DONE.

DOMINGO TAKING A STEP BACKWARDS.

CC SUCKS.

TANAKA UP AND DOWN WITH THAT PARTIAL TEAR HANGING OVER US.

PAXTON CONFUSING THE SHIT OUT OF US WITH HIS KNEE.

CHAPMAN WITH HIS KNEE.

LASAGNA OUT EVERY OTHER WEEK.

HAPP IS OUR ROCK. (WHICH ISN'T TOO COMFORTING).

ANY OTHER PITCHERS?

GREAT TIME TO NOT PICK UP DECENT PITCHING HUH?

I'M STILL PISSED OFF AFTER TODAY'S BULLSHIT.

FOR THE LAST TIME....

CC SUCKS!

I'M FUCKING TIRED OF HEARING ABOUT HIS "LEADERSHIP", AND HOW HIS TEAMMATES LOVE HIM.

THAT SHIT DOESN'T FLY IF YOU DON'T PERFORM ENOUGH.

HE JUST CAN'T GIVE US ANY QUALITY PERFORMANCES AGAINST ANY DECENT TEAMS.

TODAY 5 INNINGS/4 RUNS.

NOT GOOD ENOUGH!

WE WERE ASSHOLES TO SIGN HIM.

I DON'T GIVE A FUCK WHAT ANYONE SAYS.

ACTUALLY, I THINK HE SHOULD BE THE NEXT "OPENER" FOR US.

HE MAY BE ABLE TO GIVE US 1 OR 2 INNINGS WITHOUT ANY RUNS, BUT THAT'S IT. NO MORE THAN 2 INNINGS. GET HIM THE FUCK OUT OF THERE.

I'M SERIOUS.

Chill bro lol

CC's lines

5IP 1H 0 ER
5IP 3H 0 ER
5IP 6H 4 ER
5.1IP 5H 2 ER
5IP 5H 3 ER
6IP 6H 1 ER
5IP 6H 4 ER
6IP 7H 3 ER
5IP 7H 4 ER

he's been pretty good all season there are no clunkers in there sure he's had a couple of not great outings but he's being counted on to be a #4/5 not a #1/2 he has kept them in the game every time he's pitched.

Maybe regression is coming for him maybe not but the guy battles every game he pitches he never gives in or gives up to hate on him is laughable and honestly sad. He gives it his all every day if you had 25 guys who gave it their all every day every moment day in and day out you'd have a really good team...

I'M ALL FOR GIVING IT YOUR ALL, AND CC DOES.

....BUT IN CASE ANYONE HASN'T NOTICED, HE CAN'T REALLY HOLD ANY DECENT TEAM DOWN.

INCLUDING THE RED SOX, HOUSTON, AND CLEVELAND.

TOSS OUT THE EARLY GAMES AGAINST THE WHITE SOX, K.C., AND ARIZONA, (THEY CAN'T HIT).

IT'S AMAZING HOW PEOPLE NOW SEE GIVING UP 4 RUNS IN 5 INNINGS AS "PRETTY GOOD". (WHICH IS WHAT HE KEEPS HOVERING AROUND EVERY START).

HE MAY HOLD A LESSER HITTING TEAM DOWN ON OCCASION, BUT WE CAN'T BE FOOLED AND GIVE HIM ANY STARTS IN THE PLAYOFFS, AGAINST BOSTON (OR HOUSTON)....THEY WILL GET TO HIM, EARLY, LIKE THEY DID LAST YEAR. REMEMBER????? I HATE TO SAY IT, BUT IT'S ALMOST A GUARANTEED LOSS.

OH FUCK IT, WE ARE GOING TO MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE. (NO WAY HE DOESN'T GET A START IN HIS "FAREWELL SEASON"...FUCK THAT SENTIMENTAL BULLSHIT).

PLEASE LET ME BE WRONG.

I WANT TO BE WRONG!

So, Unknown, what your stats show is:

CC: first 4 starts, 20.1 innings, 15 hits, 6 ER.

CC: last 5 starts, 27 innings, 31 hits, 15 ER.

This does not strike me as an encouraging trend.

A few quick calculations here.

Over the first 13 years of his career, 2001-2013, CC averaged nearly 16 wins a season—close to Hall of Fame stuff.

From 2014 on, CC has averaged a little over 8 wins a year. He's on a pace for that again this year.

If I recall correctly, CC signed the first of his big new deals with the Yanks before the 2012 season. That was a pretty good year for him, one in which he gave us 15 wins in the regular season, and 2 more in a sterling ALDS against Baltimore.

Since then, all of his numbers have collapsed, even as we've paid him a whopping $160 mill from 2012 on.

Hey, those are the risks you take with older pitchers.

And while I might NOT have taken it, considering the fact that CC had aching knees, a declining fastball, and a drinking problem then, who can say? If he had pitched us to another ring in 2012, helped us maybe get one in 2017, it would've all been worth it—in terms of both fan satisfaction and cold hard cash.

What I DO resent is that Hal & Co. seem to have taken the lesson from that wild gamble and decided that even a little gamble—like the one on Keuchel—would not be worth it. That extra $1.5 mill—it's less than 1 percent of what we forked over to CC to do a whole lot of nuthin' over the past 8 seasons.
