You had to know this would happen, too.....

Our latest hope, that guy whose name we cannot spell ( Luouisaga ???) , better known as "Lasagne, "is officially on the minor league 7 day DL.  This was announced about 1 hour ago.

Yankee fans were hoping to see him in one of the upcoming double-header games.

But we won't.

He is scheduled for an MRI on his shoulder.  Dr. Andrews is sharpening his knives.

You just know that the next news will be surgery.

The sky is falling.

This is the time for Chance Adams to re-appear as our savior and hero.

Desperate times call for........

Merde!

Only one thing really bothered me about the Saturday game: In the 8th, with bases loaded (and 2 outs) just after the Toronto pitcher walked Stanton, Frazier walked to the plate.

Judge had just struck out on a 3-2 count. Stanton's walk came on a 3-1 pitch.

Frazier immediately went after the first pitch. My understanding of baseball is that, IF you go after a pitch you don't have to swing at -- 0-0, 1-0, 2-0, 2-1 -- just after the pitcher has missed the plate a bunch of times, you are choosing a pitch that looks really, really good to you.

Further, when the bases are loaded, the pressure is ON the pitcher to throw strikes. Isn't it? Therefore, do not hit a pitch unless you can crush the crap out of it. Or you have to (i.e., the count includes 2 strikes and you don't want to strike out looking).

Frazier's choice resulted in a ground out. With bases loaded.

I'm not ready to write Red Thunder off. But I have to admit being just a bit disappointed. This just seemed like more of the same . . .

JFOB: Funny, I was disappointed at exactly the same moment. I wasn't doing an advanced situational analysis as you were, but I was disappointed that Frazier blew his one big moment to really shine ... one moment where he could have virtually guaranteed his continued existence in the bigs.

Now, it's easier for anyone who is so predisposed to make the argument that he needs to go back down to AAA for more "seasoning", for all the reasons you mention.

It was a shame on many levels.

Seasoning is for BBQ ribs, not Clint Frazier.

Joe FOB, LBJ, I completely agree. I was also disappointed—yet again!—by the supposed centerpiece of our dynasty-to-be.

Two men on, Stanton up next, 3-2 count. You know the pitcher is going to challenge Judge—this is the advantage that (FINALLY!) putting the team's other best power hitter right behind him finally gets us.

And he swung right through the pitch, as he so often does, particularly with men on base.

Sigh.

Stanton swung wildly at ball 4 twice before striking out . What else is new?

I'll tell you what's old: Boone/Cashman contemplating bringing up Cessa to start game 2 tomorrow in Baltimore. That experiment has gone further south than Victor Frankenstein's monster.

After his fine start yesterday, Sheffield has an ERA of 2.49. He couldn't pitch tomorrow, but why he isn't in the rotation already is beyond me. BBQ seasoning, I guess.
