When in doubt, fire Meachem

The great Yank tradition of scapegoating Bobby Meachem was upheld today, as the team announced that it is firing the incompetent punk scoundrel who ruined the entire 2008 season.

Critics across the Yankiverse had expressed amazement that the team allowed Meachem to finish the season, considering all the games he single-handedly lost, what with his bunt signs, and the way he flapped his arms while waving players home -- it was a flat-out disgrace, and everybody knew it! -- and everybody agreed: He was the one thing holding the franchise back.
.
If it hadn't been for Bobby Meachem, we'd be in the playoffs now, probably three games up.
.
Remember: It was Bobby who waved Chien-Ming Wang home on that fateful night when he wrecked his leg.
.
Remember: It was Bobby who kept giving Jason Giambi the "whiff" sign with runners in scoring position.

There are great Yank traditions:
.
The Retiring of Numbers,
Playing in the House that Ruth Built,
Parades Down the Champion of Heroes...
and Firing Bobby Meachem When Things Go Bad.
.
As it says in the Good Book: The Meach shall inherit the dirt.
.
We can hardly wait for 2009, knowing this anchor will no longer pull us down.

The Red Sox was busy getting beaten up by the ultra-super Rays while our boy Cash was busy making making micro-adjustment for the better of our team?
How sweet.

At least they didn't do anything radical like firing the third assistant to the chief beer man of section 31.
