Excerpts from Francona's "pep talk" to Big Pappi

Before last night's game, the manager called him in.

"... Aww, it's nothing to ashamed of. Studies show that one in every five men suffer from E.D. Have you asked your doctor about 24-hour Cialis?"

"... And you know what happened to that little boy who everybody said was too dumb to ever do anything? Well, he grew up to be the President of the United States of America! George W. Bush!"

"... OK, so she said no. Who cares? There are a million women out there. I mean, you're the best looking guy on this team."

"... Now... say it: 'With this blood, I do pledge my immortal soul to the forces of Lucifer...'"

"... What makes a King out of a slave? Courage. What makes the flag on the mast to wave? Courage. What makes the elephant charge his tusk in the misty mist or the dusky dusk?
What makes the muskrat guard his musk? Courage!"

"... Repeat after me: 'I was born in the ghetto.' Say it! 'But the ghetto is not born in me.' Say it!"

"... No, the joo-joo man did not steal your soul. I can assure you, the joo-joo man did not steal your soul."

"It's like the movie. You are Marshall! You are Marshall! You are Marshall!"

"No, if you keep hitting, nobody's going to cut off your head and freeze it."

"For the last time, no, you're not fat."
