Nice to see the power back. But loathsomely tentative outfield play putting Taliesen in trouble here in the 4th.

This team doesn't have the gloves to support this kind of pitching.

One bad pitch, and three hits that should not have been hits. Expect a lot more of this in the season ahead.

After that single, I hope Judge didn't break...

Taucky with a double!

And...Giancarlo with another Giancarlo. Sigh.

The Master doesn't care about exit velocity. He just doesn't. He has is own opinions. On everything apparently.

HoraceClarke66 said...

We also don't have the pitching for this sort of pitching. A season of Nick Nelson pitching important innings will not end well.

TheWinWarblist said...

You should never ever walk the first batter of an inning. Giving up a triple is a bad idea too.

Nelly isn’t cutting it.

Where is The Great Krisge?

Rick Nelson good, our Nelson bad.

Nelson has been awful...

Again, what is the point of having 59 relief pitchers if you decide to pitch one who obviously doesn't have it until he takes you out of the game?

How can the entire Yanks' pen be so exhausted that Nelson has to stay in to give up 3 runs and counting? This is such a badly imagined and run team that it's unbelievable.

You in-game box score now shows Nelson’s ERA as 9.72.

JM said...

Hoss, the management is lousy on every level. Including on the field.

JM said...

I can't believe all our .150 hitters will stay there all season. But then again, you can't predict baseball.

TheWinWarblist said...

But you can have opinions about everything. The Master does. He was beside himself at the drag bunt base hit.

I guess it's too much to expect these guys to beat a crutty team 4 in a row.

I'm gonna celebrate 3-out-of-4 anyway.....

...as I might not get another chance to do that!

In breaking news...

Following today’s game, the Yankees optioned RHP Nick Nelson to the Alternate Site.

ranger_lp said...

Can we option the whole team to the Alternative Site?

ranger_lp said...

Someone tweeted this...

Yikes, when you use the term "Alternate Site" it sounds like you've gotten the @CIA
involved and poor Nick Nelson got a black hood pulled over his head and a free flight to some "Alternate Site" to answer questions about the game.

Which is what pitching like that deserves.

I kid, I kid!

What pitching like that deserves is the old baseball wage, maybe $5,000 a summer.

I take it as a strange sort of win that Clint managed (from the sounds of things) to dive and catch a tough ball. I only listen to the games and so am not immune to either The Master's overstatements or Suzyn's audio affidavits but it sounded like a tough play was made. To listen to this year (when I have so far, which is honestly more often than I wish given how much I hate the management of this team) I can't recall another time when a difficult catch was made in the outfield. I'm sure I've missed a few gems and/or am blocking them from my view out of spite but I take this as a good sign. I almost never bet and lose when I do, but if the guy laid out and grabbed a tough one late and a bunch of runs down there might be some fire in him yet.

While Clint’s catch isn’t reason enough to invent television, it does make the internet worthwhile:

It wasn’t graceful bird stuff, but he was pretty far off the ground when it all happened.

ranger_lp said...

His catch was ESPN SportsCenter worthy...

TheWinWarblist said...

The Red Menace appears to have worked very hard of his fielding. That catch was major league. I'm not sure Hicks or Gardy would have made it.
