I scored 17 out of 37 on George Will's Opening Day Quiz. Can you beat me?

 Go for it.

Can't get past their paywall. I guess that gives me a zero?

No access: stingy WAPO won’t even give you one free article a month (I believe the NYT lets you have 4; if you have a VPN you can have unlimited free access to the NYT).

I got 19.

Maybe I should play powerball today.

I used my phone, which may be why I got past the paywall.

You got 18 out of 37 questions correct. That's what I got...

22 but with many lucky guesses included, e.g., my correct answer on "The number of Rod Carew’s batting titles."

My biggest conclusion: I need to learn more about Nellie Fox.

Celerino beat me by 1 ... I got 24. (Although a handful were just guesses)

I hit 22, and yes, Nellie Fox is an often overlooked player, except among White Sox fans. Midwest represented by that good question about Harmon Killebrew.

I got 23. Who the heck was Toad Ramsay? I guessed him.

I've spent some time this past week rewatching the Ken Burns "Baseball" series, which is even better than in 1994 because you get to see interview bits from Buck O'Neil, Mario Cuomo, Henry Aaron, and a lot of other guys who are dead now. Anyway, George Will is one of the recurring talking heads, and on the subject of the reserve clause, he said he had always taken the position that it was wrong, Unamerican, and should be abolished. And admitted that he took an uncharacteristically socialist, labor-friendly, union-friendly position.

Just mentioning that. By the way, if you want to spend about 18 hours in a pleasant way, the series is well worth it. Even if it covers 1968 and doesn't even mention Denny McClain.

19 for me, also many lucky guesses.

Duque, I expect you took a dive to make the rest of us feel better about ourselves.
