Today, theYankees released a list of players who have been optioned to Scranton....it included their rookie of the year ( training camp ) Clark Schmidt; the "Andy Petitte" of 2020 ( Montgomery ), Nick Nelson and a bunch of others...some really important, some question marks.
It is my understanding that minor league baseball ( including AAA Scranton ) does not exist this year.
If so, when a player is optioned to Scranton, one has to ask: Are they actually be optioned to Hooters?
Is Hooters "open," so to speak?
Or are the Yankees ( and all other teams ) just playing a fantasy card here, when they option players to a minor league affiliate? Is this a virtual move?
What are the players going to do?
Are there even Scranton uniforms to wear around town?
Is the stadium open? What can 8-10 guys do?

It's not exactly Scranton...
The Yankees announced that they signed left-hander Luis Avilán, right-hander David Hale and catcher Chris Iannetta to Major League contracts, selecting them to the 40-man roster.
Players reassigned to the club’s alternate training site in Moosic, Pa., included: infielder Matt Duffy, outfielder Estevan Florial, right-hander Deivi GarcÃa, outfielder Zack Granite, catcher Erik Kratz, right-hander Brooks Kriske, left-hander Tyler Lyons, right-hander Nick Nelson, right-hander Clarke Schmidt, right-hander Nick Tropeano, right-hander Miguel Yajure and right-hander Tony Zych.
Additionally, the Yankees placed right-hander Dan Otero on the restricted list. Boone addressed GarcÃa and Schmidt, two of the club’s top pitching prospects, prior to the moves being formally announced. Earlier in the day, Schmidt was named the winner of the James P. Dawson Award, indicative of the club’s top rookie in Spring Training.
