The most oft-repeated phrase of the young season:

And Sanchez strikes out swinging.

Suzyn (which autocorrects to Isuzu, to the chagrin of all those driven by Jeep) and Ricky have a decent rapport.

Sanchez and Gardner have overwhelmed the opposition, going 0-20 with 14 Ks.

Thanks for playing guys.

So nice to see a crass ethnic stereotype passing for humor. El duque--do you ever exercise any editorial scrutiny over the posts here? Perhaps when Sterling returns someone can post a photo of a davening Lubavitcher just to round out the racist raillery? In fact, Ricky Ricardo did an excellent job--his smooth professional baritone delivery blissfully detailed and free of the bellowing affectations and buffoonery of everyone's favorite announcer-blowhard. THUH-UH-UH-UH-UH worst baseball announcer in history, and it's not even close.

How is this racist? Rickie Ricardo was almost certainly nicknamed for the man pictured.,, as half owner of Desilu he approved of his own wardrobe for that photo no doubt... and Babalu is his trademark song... I jus5 don’t see the racism. At all.

Sanchez may sent an all-time K record in just a 60 game season: OH MY WORD.
Red Thunder needs to put Yankee Legend Gardner out to pasture

As a bald man, I find Ricki's hair especially dashing; just saying.

I have to agree with BJPB on this:

Fact: "Ricky Ricardo" was a fictional character on the I Love Lucy show.

Fact: Desi Arnaz played "Ricky Ricardo" and also owned all rights and made all production decisions for the show with his wife, Lucy Arnaz.

Fact: Desi Arnaz was photographed in various publicity stills typical of the era. Presumably, he did this in order to promote the "Ricky Ricardo" character.

Fact: Ricky Ricardo was the name of the substitute announcer for John Sterling last night.

Fact: Some wild wag who contributes to the IIHIIFIIc blog illustrated his post with one of the vintage "Ricky Ricardo" publicity stills.

Opinion: If the substitute announcer's real-life name for last night's game was "Archie Bunker" or "Mike Stivic" or "Lucy McGillicuddy", the blog post-er would have illustrated the post with a different publicity still in order to make a play/connection on the fictional character's name.

Question: How is matching a fictional character's name with a vintage publicity still of the actor who played that fictional character racist?

Please help me out.
